David Bowie – The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars
Often shortened to simply Ziggy Stardust, the fifth studio album by English musician David Bowie was released in June of 1972. It has made immemorial the character devised by Bowie, “Ziggy Stardust”, of whom is also a “bisexual androgynous rock star and messenger for extraterrestrial beings.” The album was a widespread critical success and sold over 7.5 million copies worldwide. In 2017 Ziggy Stardust was inducted into the National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress in the US for being “culturally, historically, or artistically significant.” Ziggy Stardust hosts hits such as: “Soul Love,” “Starman,” “Ziggy Stardust,” “Suffragette City,” and “Rock ‘n’ Roll Suicide.”
Deep Purple – Who Do We Think We Are
The seventh studio album by the English hard rock group Deep Purple was called Who Do We Think We Are and was released in 1973. It was also subsequently the last album by the band to feature singer Ian Gillan and bassist Roger Glover. Although the album was largely considered a commercial success the band soon disintegrated after touring for the album due to band infighting and managerial conflicts. Nonetheless Who Do We Think We Are spawned hits such as “Woman from Tokyo” and “Place in Line.”
