The debut album by the Mama’s and the Papa’s, If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears was released in 1966. Described as a dark look on L.A. culture, If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears defined the sound of the band with groovy folk-rock, pop/rock, pop, and soul that reflected the the commercial sound of the era. If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears holds a handful of hits such as: “Monday, Monday,” “I Call Your Name,” “Do You Wanna Dance,” “Go Where You Wanna Go,” “California Dreamin,” “Spanish Harlem,” “You Baby,” and “The ‘In’ Crowd.”

 

Gerry and the Pacemakers – Don’t Let the Sun Catch You Crying

Don’t Let the Sun Catch You Crying is the second studio album by the English beat group Gerry and the Pacemakers. It was released in 1964 and showcased the band’s first US hit single “Don’t Let the Sun Catch You Crying.” The band would inevitably disband by 1966 but Don’t Let the Sun Catch You Crying solidified their presence across the pond from their native UK.
