Bruce Springsteen has officially announced the upcoming release of Tracks Vol. II: The Lost Albums, a comprehensive collection of previously unreleased material spanning from 1983 to 2018. This sequel to his 1998 box set, Tracks, aims to offer fans an in-depth look into the evolution of Springsteen’s music over three and a half decades.
The original Tracks compilation featured 66 songs recorded between 1972 and 1995, providing listeners with a treasure trove of outtakes and demos that highlighted Springsteen’s prolific songwriting and recording sessions. In a 2020 interview, Springsteen hinted at the wealth of unreleased material in his archives, suggesting that a follow-up box set was in the works. He mentioned, “There’s a lot of really good music left… It’s not that hard. If I pull out something from 1980, or 1985 or 1970, it’s amazing how you can slip into that voice.”
Tracks Vol. II: The Lost Albums is expected to include songs from various phases of Springsteen’s career, potentially featuring the much-discussed “Electric Nebraska” sessions. Drummer Max Weinberg has previously noted that he has overdubbed drum parts for over 40 songs since 2017 for potential inclusion in this collection.
Fans eagerly await further details, including the official tracklist and release date, which are anticipated to be revealed soon. This collection promises to be a significant addition to Springsteen’s discography, offering a deeper understanding of his artistic journey.
