Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal Reunite for Iconic ‘When Harry Met Sally’ Super Bowl Ad Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal Reunite for Iconic ‘When Harry Met Sally’ Super Bowl Ad

In a delightful nod to cinematic history, actors Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal have reunited to recreate their iconic scene from the 1989 romantic comedy When Harry Met Sally. This time, the setting is a Super Bowl LIX commercial for Hellmann’s mayonnaise, bringing a fresh twist to the beloved moment.

The advertisement revisits Katz’s Delicatessen in New York City, the original backdrop for the famous “I’ll have what she’s having” scene. In the new spot, Ryan’s character enhances her sandwich with Hellmann’s mayo, leading to a humorous and enthusiastic reaction. Crystal’s character observes, quipping, “So, this one’s real.” The commercial also features actress Sydney Sweeney delivering the classic line, “I’ll have what she’s having,” adding a contemporary touch to the nostalgic reenactment.

Reflecting on the project, Crystal shared, “It was a really fun idea, and the approach was right. It was our 35th anniversary of the film, and it’s the first time that we’ve been offered something like that.” Ryan added, “They [Hellmann’s] were so respectful of the movie and of the scene too. They came to us with just an enormous amount of respect for that, for the source material and for the characters.”

This reunion not only celebrates the enduring legacy of When Harry Met Sally but also showcases the timeless chemistry between Ryan and Crystal, delighting both longtime fans and new audiences during the Super Bowl broadcast.
