It’s back to school for many already. Many parishes started going to class Monday, August 12th. Iberia and Jeff Davis Public Schools opened last week. By the end of this week, most if not all public schools in the area will be open and ready for teaching and learning.
One of the most difficult routines for children and parents to get used to is waking up to go to school. It seems as though the school bell rings earlier every year and the time students must wake up to catch the bus or have mom or dad drive to school is also getting earlier.

Then there is a vocal section of parents across the country who also feel kids are loaded with too much homework, thus making it almost impossible to children to go bed early enough to receive 8 hours of sleep a night. Children’s Health Organizations think elementary and high schools classes should not start before 830am. A majority of schools start the day at 8:00 am.
Louisiana has the earliest start times in the country at 7:40 am. The latest start time for classes is in North Dakota at 8:31 am and Alaska at 8:33 am.
