It appears that Michael Thomas is getting his wish.

The New Orleans Saints star wide receiver has reportedly wanted to become the highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL. Multiple media reports early Wednesday morning are stating that the Saints and Thomas have agreed to a record-breaking contract.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted out the following, “The record-breaking $100M deal that WR Michael Thomas & the Saints have agreed to include $61M in New Guaranteed Money, which is the most in NFL history for a Non-QB offensive player. This massive extension was negotiated by @DavidMulugheta and Andrew Kessler of Athletes First.”

Ian Rapoport also confirmed the signing by tweeting out, “The #Saints & star WR Michael Thomas have reached a blockbuster, 5 yr $100M extension. This contract makes Thomas the highest-paid WR in NFL History. He’s also the first non-QB offensive player to sign a $100M contract. Agents @DavidMulugheta & Andrew Kessler negotiated the deal.”

The former Ohio State star and College Football Playoff national champion had not yet reported for Saints training camp as he was holding off during the contract negotiations.

The 2016 second-round draft pick quickly became one of the favorite targets of Drew Brees. Thomas holds the NFL record for most receptions (321) by a player through his first three seasons, and he also led the league in receptions in 2018.

In his three seasons, the 6-foot-3, 212-pound has 3,787 receiving yards, 23 touchdowns while earning Pro Bowl honors twice (2017, 2018) and earned first-team All-Pro honors once (2018).
