Get Yer Ya-Yas Out! The Rolling Stones In Concert/Metamorphosis
Still considered on of the greatest live albums of all time, ‘Get Yer Ya-Yas Out! The Rolling Stones In Concert’ celebrates 50 years since its release. On The Turntable will celebrate with a Rolling Stones Weekend and a special airing of the 40 year anniversary issued album with unreleased songs from the Madison Square Garden shows. We will follow that with ‘Metamorphosis’, released in 1975.
Get Yer Ya-Yas Out! The Rolling Stones In Concert
‘Get Yer Ya-Ya’s Out!’: The Rolling Stones in Concert’ is the second live album by the Rolling Stones, released in September 1970, the LP was recorded in New York City and Baltimore, Maryland in November 1969, just before the release of Let It Bleed. Originally released as a single lp ..today we will catch unreleased tracks from the 2009 release celebrating 40 years since the albums release. The Rolling Stones US Tour of 1969 is regarded as one of “rock and roll legend.”
The Rolling Stones American Tour centered around live versions of songs from the Beggars Banquet-Let It Bleed lps … At the time of its release; critics claimed ‘Get Yer Ya-Yas Out’ to be the greatest live album ever recorded. It was the last Rolling Stones record to be released on Decca Records in the UK and London Records in the US, prior to The Stones creating their own Rolling Stones record label.
The Rolling Stones American Tour of 1969 was the first tour that included Mick Taylor, the guitarist that replaced Brian Jones following his death … Though the album has lost some shine over the years, it is still considered on of the greatest live LPs of all time… Best Ever Albums Dot Com considers Get Yer Ya-Yas Out! as the 50th best album of 1970 and the 410th of the decade … Digital Dream Door Dot Com ranks the album 24th in its top one hundred of the year … In 2007, NME ranked the album as the 7th greatest live album of all time.
Notable Tracks – “Midnight Rambler” “Little Queenie” “Live With Me” “Street Fighting Man”
Our second selection is the third compilation disc from The Rolling Stones … Metamorphosis was released by Allen Klein and his ABKCO Records label, who appropriated control of The Stones Decca/London material in 1970. The album centers around outtakes and alternate versions of well-known Stones songs from 1967-1970 …. Side one is mostly outtakes and featuring guest musicians, including Jimmy Page … on most cuts, Mick Jagger is the only Stone performing … Some of them I found quite good.
Metamorphosis has been slighted by almost everyone … mostly because no one from the Stones or Klein camps could agree on how the LP should be released … It was also released the same day that The Stones released their authorized hit collections “Made In The Shade”. It remains the only Rolling Stones outtakes collection to be officially released.
Notable Tracks – “Out Of Time” “Memo From Turner” “Heart Of Stone” “Don’t Lie To Me”
