Would you buy an old house that has the reputation of being haunted?

When buying an older model home, there is a lot to consider. Repairs and remodeling may have to be done. An old house could become a financial burden. But what if the particular home, is not only old but also known to be haunted complete with documentation of the haunting. The house has a huge yard, spacious rooms complete with stories from past residents of unexplained scary noises. It is definitely a gamble. Even if you don’t believe in the paranormal, anyone can be freaked out by weird creaks during the night.

Well, a couple recently took that gamble. Cory and Jennifer Heinzen just purchased a farmhouse in Rhode Island that is widely known to be haunted. In fact, this exact farmhouse is the inspiration for the movie, The Conjuring. Legend has it, that a witch cursed the property a long time ago.

The farmhouse was originally inhabited by the Perron family in the 1970s. When the Perron family moved in, at first, the disturbances they experienced were minor. Doors opening and closing, knocks, and footsteps. But soon the occurrences became violent. The unexplained activity drew the attention of paranormal investigators, Ed, and Lorraine Warren.

Before purchasing the house, the couple was well aware of the sinister history associated with the house. And since moving in, the property has lived up its reputation. According to the new homeowner, the house is very energetic. Cory Heinzen has stated that doors fly open and closed with no explanation.

Sounds like the perfect place to raise a family. Just kidding. Personally, old properties are quite alluring, especially plantation homes in the south. But if you are the type of person that has a wild imagination, how would you ever get sleep at night? And if you have seen the movie, The Conjuring, then you know that the ghosts in this farmhouse didn’t just harass the people in the home. The ghost actually caused the family physical harm and even possessed the mother. It’s a brave person to decide to move into this home. It’s one thing if we are talking about sharing a room with Casper the friendly ghost, but according to legend, the ghosts in this home were evil. Although, that is the movie’s plot and who knows what really happened to the family. I didn’t read the book or news article that was the basis of the movie. But just the idea that there could be some strange paranormal beings in the home just waiting to scare to someone, is frightening.
