Cedric Figaro is considered one of the greatest players in Lafayette High football history.
The former USA Today High School All-American would go to star at Notre Dame before playing seven seasons in the NFL. Figaro then played and coached overseas before returning stateside to coach high school football — including being on the staff of last year’s state championship-winning Acadiana squad.
Figaro brings that experience to Lafayette High as their new head coach and is determined to bring success back to the Mighty Lions.
Mighty Lion fans can follow all the exciting action this season with The Roaring Lion Network on The Rewind 97.7 FM. The duo of play-by-play announcer Raymond Partsch III and color commentator Chad Jones return on the call for the second straight season.
“I can’t wait to see what Coach Figaro does in his first season at his alma mater,” Partsch said. “I fully expect the Mighty Lions to embody the traits of their new head coach — tenacity and toughness. Also, I am thrilled to be calling these games once again with my friend Chad Jones.”
“I couldn’t be more excited to be part of the Vermilion Parish Game of the Week broadcast,” Wall said. “With everything so upside down this year, having high high school football back makes things seems a little bit better.”
“Mighty Lion Football was a few plays always from victory versus Barbe and Comeaux from securing their first winning season in over a decade,” Jones said. “I am so excited about to be back at Lafayette High to see the building of a winner by Coach Fig.”
